ISLAMABAD – Production of petroleum products witnessed a decline of 10.62 percent during the first five months of the current fiscal year and increased by 3.15 percent in November 2010 over the same month of last year. Most of product categories showed a fall in production excluding lubricating oil and solvent naptha, production both of which increased by 2.42 percent and 23.68 percent respectively in July-November (2009-10) against the corresponding period of last year, according to figures provided by the Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS).
The production of lubricating oil increased by 12.56 percent in November 2010 as compared to last November, the figures revealed. The other products that witnessed positive growth in production during November 2010 over November 2009 included high speed diesel and jute batching oil, the production of which increased by 14.98 percent and 38.94 percent respectively.
Kerosene oil contributed a major share in overall production levels as it witnessed a decline of 28.97 percent in production during the first five months of current year and about 43.70 percent negative growth in November 2009. Production of jet fuel decreased by 16.15 percent and 4.30 percent during July-November (2010-11) and November 2010 respectively, the FBS figures revealed.
