PPP-backed Hussain Saghla elected DBA president

SAHIWAL – Muhammad Hussain Saghla, backed by PPP, won the slot of president in the annual election of Sahiwal District Bar Association. According to details, Muhammad Hussain Saghla secured 379 votes and was elected president with the support of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Mehar Kutb-ud-Din Tariq advocate. His opponents Mian Muhammad Aslam and Rana Tahir Saeed secured 306 and 161 votes, respectively. Qadir Mann was elected vice president, securing 435 votes. Qasim Bashir secured 406 votes and was elected secretary while Usman Ahmed Sani elected joint secretary by securing 524 votes.
CHARAS, OPIUM WORTH RS 10M SEIZED: Sahiwal police claimed to have seized charas and opium worth Rs 10 million and arrested four people, including a woman. According to details, DSP Talat Khan said that he received information that Ghulam Farid, his wife Rukhsana Kausar, Nadeem and Ahmed Ali were selling charas in Sahiwal. The police raided the house, recovered 111 packets of charas and three kilograms of opium worth Rs 10 million and arrested all the accused wanted in many robbery, theft and murder cases.
OLD ENMITY CLAIMS LIFE: One person was killed and three others were injured over an old enmity. Reportedly, Rashid alias Sheeda along with his accomplices attacked his opponent Gulzar group and killed one Anwar Ali instantly.
Rani Bibi, Asma Bibi and another received serious injuries and were rushed to hospital where they were in precarious condition.
