Lahore – The Punjab government needs to appoint a regular vice chancellor to run the affairs of the University of Health Sciences (UHS) Punjab, as appointment of an ad hoc vice chancellor working for the last 4 years has “deteriorated” university standards, Young Doctors Association (YDA) office bearers said on Tuesday.
YDA central office bearers Dr Rana Sohail, Dr Salman Kazmi, Dr Aslam Rao, Dr Usra Sadaqat, Dr Khuda Bukhsh have further added the UHS administration is a hub of “retired professors” who are playing “havoc” with the examination system of the university. UHS administration is playing at the hands of private medical colleges “mafia” and is passing the students after applying the formula of the “Difficulty Index”, leading to the deterioration of standard of medical education in Punjab.
Young doctors have appealed to the Punjab chief minister to replace the present vice chancellor with a regular vice chancellor to assure transparency in the examination system of the UHS and ensure that deserving students are not denied their due positions.
