TNRM urges president to scrap committee reviewing blasphemy laws

LAHORE – President Asif Ali Zardari should dissolve the committee formed to reconsider Section 295-C of the blasphemy laws and parliament should pass a bill to assure that Section 295-C would never be touched again, the Tahafuz-e-Namoos-e-Risalat Mahaz (TNRM) demanded on Monday during a protest.
The rally was held from the Data Darbar to the Governor’s House. TNRM President Raza-e-Mustafa Naqashbandi said that the Muslims are ready to sacrifice everything in way of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
Addressing the rally, TNRM Secretary Muhammad Ali Naqsbandi said that 98 percent of the nation has declared former Punjab governor Salmaan Taseer’s assassin Mumtaz Qadri as their hero. He said that 96 percent people on social networking website Facebook have accepted that Qadri did the right thing. Raghib Naeemi said that Pope Benedict XVI has forced us to come on roads and protest against such statements and that if our leaders had fulfilled their duties, we would have never come on to the roads.
Protesters also played Qadri’s Naat during the rally and teared Taseer’s posters displayed outside the Governor’s House. Talking to Pakistan Today, Ziaul Haq Naqshbandi said that protesters were stopped from doing such things but emotional people ripped two to three posters of the slain governor.
