ISLAMABAD – The National Assembly Standing Committee on Education has decided to forward its recommendations in next two days to the implementation committee against the devolution of the ministry of education under the 18th amendment.
This was decided in the meeting on Monday under the Chairmanship of Abid Sher Ali. Abid Sher Ali, talking to reporters, said within next two days he would present unanimously passed recommendations of the committee to Senator Raza Rabani, chairman of the implementation committee. He said, “We want the education ministry should have the authority to develop national curriculum as it should remain with the federal government.”
The meeting could not discuss the corporal punishment bill Rana Afzal Hussain who was nominated as the convener of a sub-committee on December 6 failed to work on the bill.
The committee members were shocked when they were informed by Secretary Education Athar Waheed that only four per cent students of ‘A’ Levels could get admission in the medical universities.
He said in the absence of proper marks equivalence system, the students had to lose their precious one year after ‘A’ Levels as they had to take extra classes to be at par with FS.c.
Over the issue of the six students of Quaid-e-Azam University who got degrees without passing the exams, Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Masoom Yasinzai, during his briefing to the committee confirmed that failed six students of MPA were illegally declared passed. He informed the committee that detailed investigations were being carried out to trace the real culprit.
