KP Assembly resolves that it trusts Zardari

PESHAWAR – The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Monday, through a unanimous resolution, reposed confidence in the leadership of President Asif Ali Zardari and endorsed his reconciliation process.
At the very outset of the session, Pakistan People’s Party parliamentary leader Abdul Akbar Khan moved the resolution after getting permission from the chair. No opposition legislator except Ghulam Muhammad of PML-Q from Chitral was present in the house at that time.
Following is the text of the resolution: “This august house resolves to show its fullest confidence and trust in the president of Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari, who was elected by securing overwhelming majority votes from the four provincial assemblies, the Senate and the National Assembly, being co-chairman of Pakistan People’s Party.
The house is of the opinion that his role is very essential as co-chairman of PPP and the president of Pakistan to unite the nation as well as promote reconciliation amongst the democratic forces. This house appreciates his efforts in the capacity of possessing dual offices for furthering democracy and strengthening Pakistan.”
