Completion of sewage scheme demanded

WAZIRABAD – The construction work on the sewage scheme of Wazirabad city, to be completed with the special grant of the Punjab chief minister, has not so far been started and an inordinate delay has irked the people of the area.
The Public Health and Engineering Department was required to get the project from Nullah Palkhu to Ahmadnagar Road completed in 2009 and the job was assigned to Asad and Company. The sewage pipes of the Public Health Department are still lying in the Railway Ground Wazirabad.
The Railways, Highways and other departments have issued NOCs to the Punjab Public Health and Engineering Department, but lack of funds is hampering hurdles to the city is showing signs of sluggishness. The government has released only Rs 34 million out of Rs 130 million. MPA Shaukat Manzoor Cheema had started this sewage scheme through a special grant from Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. The people of Wazirabad have demanded the Punjab chief minister release funds for the completion of the sewage scheme in the city.
POLICE OFFICER BOOKED FOR TAKING BRIBE: Ali Pur Chatta police station Sub Inspector Arshad was arrested for taking bribe. The police has registered a case and arrested the culprit. According to details, the police arrested four gamblers while Arshad released them after taking money from the arrested people.
