KARACHI – Sixteen journalists belonging to an ethnic group are on the hit list of people involved in targeted killing in Karachi, Pakistan Today has learnt.
Ten of them work with newspapers and six are with the electronic media. Intelligence agencies have sent the list of their names to the Sindh Home Department.
A high-ranking official of the Interior Ministry made a telephone call to a journalist of a private TV channel and told him that he is on the hit-list of the killers.
“The murderers are monitoring your every move and you should leave Karachi as soon as possible,” the official warned the reporter.
Intelligence agencies have prepared a brief report after the Joint Investigation Team interrogated more than six terror suspects arrested by law enforcement agencies in the last few days.
The report revealed that a group of terrorists, involved in targeted killings in Karachi, are planning to target some journalists.
A young journalist Wali Khan Babar, who was working as a reporter with a private channel, was shot dead in the ongoing wave of targeted killings in the city a few days ago.
