Lahore – Fruit and chicken prices rose, while vegetable prices decreased this Sunday in Sunday bazaars, as compared to last week’s prices.
Price of oranges increased considerably during last week and the public criticized the increasing fruit prices. Vendors said the sale of oranges decreased because of the increasing prices. They also said that despite a good consumer count in the Sunday bazaars, sales were low as most of the people were window shoppers and many ran away after asking prices. They said that the consumers who used to buy oranges in dozens were now reluctant to buy even half a dozen.
Consumers blamed the government for exporting large quantities of oranges and said that now the rates were out of the reach of common man in the domestic market. A consumer said that orange is the most edible fruit of the season but the public was deprived of it. Onion prices, which faced ups and downs during last week, remained stable in the market.
