ISLAMABAD – The teachers affiliated with Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) have been waiting for enhanced salaries, promotions and upgrading of institute since the prime minister’s announcement to same effect, three months ago.
The FDE teachers seek implementation on the prime minister’s statement of early November, in which he had pledged enhanced salaries and promotions for them.
President Islamabad Teachers Association, Azhar Awan on Sunday while talking to Pakistan Today said, “We have been waiting for the promise to be honoured.”
He said the teachers had been told by the FDE that funds were being re-appropriated for them but he insisted they would be gratified only when their demands were met.
Joint Secretary Education Ministry Shahgan Sharif Malik, who oversees the FDE’s affairs, told Pakistan Today that the ministry was working to make funds available for the teachers.
Meanwhile second part of PM’s pledge for affiliation of the Federal Government School with model schools is also yet to be implemented.
“To end disparity and provide equal opportunities to all students, FG schools would be merged with model schools,” PM had announced.
As per the PM announced package, teachers of BPS-9 would be promoted to BPS-14, BPS-14 to BPS-16, BPS-16 to BPS-17, BPS-17 to BPS-20 and BPS-21.
Teachers those have matriculation certificates would be inducted in BPS-14 from BPS-9 and teachers having completed their undergraduate studies would be hired on BPS-16, instead of BPS-14.
