High profile cases being heard today

ISLAMABAD – The Supreme Court will today (Monday) resume hearing on various high-profile cases, including the Reko Diq case, writing of loans of Rs54 billion, missing persons, PCO judges and the ECL law.
A three-member bench of Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Ghulam Rabbani and Justice Khalilur Rehman Ramday will take up the cases, which also include death of several bystanders in an illegal car race in Rawalpindi on December 5.
A two-member bench of Justice Raja Fayyaz Ahmed and Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali will hear cases of missing persons. In these cases, the attorney general, interior and defense secretaries, National Crisis Management Cell director general, advocates general of all provinces, and Islamabad commissioner and inspector general of police will appear on notice. In the Reko Diq case, the court will examine additional documents filed by the parties concerned. The court has already hinted that the Reko Diq case would be disposed of before February 11, as the concerned parties were insisting on a decision before that date.
A four-member bench of Justice Mahmood Akhtar Shahid Siddiqui, Justice Jawwad S Khawaja, Justice Khilji Arif Hussain and Justice Tariq Parvez will resume hearing on contempt of court cases against the PCO judges. Raja Muhammad Ibrahim Satti, lawyer for Justice (r) Abdul Hameed Dogar, will continue his arguments today.
