LAHORE – Shaukat Ali Malik led Lahore Garrison to win in the final of the Cool & Cool Polo Cup here at the Aibak Ground of the Lahore Polo Club on Sunday. PICIC Insurance secured the third place.
Shaukat hammered three goals Lahore Garrison’s 6-5 win over fighting Rijas. Saqib Khan Khakwani with Atif Tiwana fought a valiant battle but their efforts were not enough and Shaukat was too brilliant for the duo.
Shaukat converted three goals, Maj. Omer Minhas two and Asif Manzoor managed one to take Lahore Garrison to victory.
Muhammad Iqbal Khan, Speaker Punjab Assembly, who was the chief guest of the match and distributed the prizes to the winners, also enjoyed the day.
Earlier in the day, Ahmed Khan steered PICIC Insurance to 7-6 win over Remounts. Naveed M Sheikh and Zain Khan Khakwani played their part in the win with one goal apiece.
From the losing side Lt. Col. Asif Zahoor, Maj. Rabnawaz Tiwana and Lt. Col. Zulfiqar Baig were prominent with four goals coming from Zahoor and one each from the other two players.
Asif Tiwana, Hassan Ali Farrukh, Shah Shamyl Alam and Taimur Ali Malik were the umpires.
