Lahore – A seminar on “Why a capital punishment for the blasphemy of Prophet Muhammad (SAW)?” was arranged by Tanzeem-e-Islami on Sunday at Quran Auditorium Lahore.
Justice (r) Nazir Ahmad Ghazi, Ameer Hamza, Abdur Rauf Raufi, Yaqoob Sheikh, Qari Muhammad Hanif and Hafiz Akif Saeed addressed around 1000 people who showed up at the seminar.
Ghazi said that there was already a mechanism to stop the law’s misuse; if the claimant was caught with false accusation then there was life imprisonment for the claimant, and if the accused was penalized and later on the claimant’s accusation was found false then there was a capital punishment for the claimant as well. He said that the scholars did not know how to fight their case in the television talk shows. So called liberal people criticized the 295-C and term it as dictator’s law whereas it was passed by an elected assembly, he added. Jamatud Dawa leader Ameer Hamza said that the west was afraid of Islam and therefore was promoting the movement against blasphemy.
Other speakers also supported capital punishment for blasphemy and gave examples from the Quran, Hadeeth and the Bible.
They said that TV anchors insisted scholars to prove capital punishment for blasphemy from the Quran because they want to spread violence and vulgarity in the society. They also said that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) ordered to kill those who did blasphemy. They also said that Prophet’s (PBUH) respect is an integral part of their faith. They said only those people were afraid of this law who supported blasphemy.
