ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Muslim League-N on Saturday asked President Asif Ali Zardari to clarify his position in Augusta submarines scandal.
“The document produced in the French court which alleged President Zardari for taking 50 million Euros commission in Augusta submarines scandal has brought shame for the whole nation.
President Zardari should come forward to clarify his position in the scam,” said PML-N Central Leader Ahsan Iqbal in a statement issued here.
He said that an independent, transparent inquiry into Augusta submarines scam was the part of the PML-N’s agenda.
“It should be a matter of great concern for the national institutions too that the proofs regarding scam were presented before French courts while the nation was kept in the dark,” he added.
Iqbal condemned the nomination of non-professional persons for holding dialogue with India on Kishan-Ganga dispute. “The appointment of non-technical people in the Indus Water Commission (IWC) is a threat to national security,” he said, demanding of the government to appoint persons having in-depth knowledge and understanding of the Indus Water Treaty in the commission.
