KARACHI – The Sindh National Front (SNF) will back the demands of the Hazarewal for a separate province for their people, SNF chief Mumtaz Bhutto said on Saturday after a meeting with a delegation representing the Hazara Qaumi Jirga.
Members of the delegation apprised Bhutto about their movement as well as alleged injustices against the Hazarewal people. Any group with a distinct language, culture and shared history is a ‘nation’ that deserves a separate province, the SNF chief said. He added that allowing a nation to take refuge and form roots somewhere and then forcing them to leave is injustice; it would mean that all immigrants worldwide could be kicked out any time .
Bhutto also condemned the current wave of violence in Karachi, and questioned the competence of the government and highlighted what he referred to as its ‘inability’ to bring perpetrators of targeted killings to task.
