ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Muslim League Quaid-e-Azam (PML-Q) and the Awami National Party (ANP) submitted adjournment motions in the National Assembly and the Senate on Saturday to discuss the ongoing violence and assassinations
in Karachi.
PML-Q Deputy Parliamentary leader Amir Muqaam and the Awami National Party (ANP) senators Afrasyab Khattak and Zahid Khan submitted the adjournment motions in the National Assembly and the Senate respectively on behalf of their parties.
Karachi has been in the grip of violence for last three days, claiming lives of over 20 people on Friday only.
The ANP Sindh, accusing the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), had called for military operation in the city to end violence while, the MQM in quick response to ANP’s allegation, said that the ANP was abetting the criminals to exacerbate law and order situation in Karachi.
The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), MQM and ANP were involved in the target killings in Karachi, Amir Muqam said adding that the city should be handed over to Pakistan Army for improving law and order situation as he described that the government and its coalition partners had failed to curb violence and lawlessness there.
Zahid Khan told Pakistan Today that the law and order situation in Karachi was extremely worrisome and he and Afrasyab Khattak, on behalf of the ANP, had submitted the adjournment motion in the Senate to discuss the matter immediately.
He said that Pukhtun people were being killed in Karachi on ethnic basis and unless Karachi was purged of weapons and criminals, peace could not be established in the city.
MQM leader Faisal Subzwari said that the ANP should have realised that the law and order situation in Khyber Pukhtunkhwa was worst than that
of Karachi.
