Orangi Town becomes city’s worst badland

KARACHI – esidents of Orangi Town were confined to their homes on Saturday following the murder of MQM’s former town naib nazim Badshah Khan.
The town wore a deserted look and fear prevailed in area because of intermittent aerial firing.
Some men kept firing at passers-by and shops and commercial centres in the town remained closed the entire day. The roads were also devoid of any public transport.
The residents faced a lot of troubles in buying items of daily-use due to the closure of shops in the town.
Orangi TPO Khurram Waris linked the targeted killing of former MQM naib nazim to the recent spate of violence in the town.
Police have recovered shells of 9mm and TT pistols from the crime scene and started investigating the MQM’s activist’s killing.
The TPO claimed that the murder of the MQM activist was motivated by personal enmity, and said that the police have recovered some important facts about the case; however, disclosing the same would be premature at this time.
“It is not practically possible for the law enforcers to bring the people involved in this war to book as these criminals have fled to their hideouts. However, the deployment of police has been increased manifold in the town.”
Police also arrested four suspected target-killers late Saturday night and recovered weapons from their possession.
Bilal and Taj were detained for killing a passer-by Yousuf, whereas Khan Zaman and Ghulam Muhammad were arrested from Qasba Morr for firing at a private company’s bus.
Law enforcement agencies also conducted raids in Bukhari Colony in the early hours of Saturday and arrested around 20 murder suspects and shifted them to an undisclosed location.
A house-to-house search operation, during which additional Rangers and police personnel were called in, started at 2:40 am.
Police said that the search operation was initiated after receiving information from previously detained suspects about the presence of murder suspects in the area.
