ISLAMABAD – In a high-level bureaucratic reshuffle, the government on Saturday transferred and posted three federal secretaries in the first phase of the restructuring plan while the second phase of transfers and postings is most likely to take place in a day or two, Pakistan Today learnt on Saturday.
After completion of a three-year term as principal secretary to the prime minister, Nargis Sethi has been transferred and posted as Cabinet Division secretary in place of Abdur Rauf Chaudhry who has been given the most important slot of the Establishment Division.
Chaudhry would also look after the affairs of the Ministry of Information Technology for the time being. Federal Health Secretary Khushnood Akhtar Lashari, who was also looking after the affairs of the Establishment Division, has been made principal secretary to the prime minister. In the second phase, the secretaries for the ministries of Health and Information Technology would be appointed, the source said, adding that the heads of some corporations would also be appointed within the next few days. A source said the Siraiki connection had worked as far as Lashari was concerned while Nargis, who the prime minister used to call his Condoleezza Rice, has been transferred to avoid stalemate in the affairs of the Prime Minister’s Secretariat.
