14 arrested for protesting against load shedding

ISLAMABAD – Protesting against the unannounced gas load-shedding became crime for protesters, as they were arrested by the Islamabad police. People staged a protest demonstration on Friday against the unannounced gas load-shedding at Khana Dak in the outskirt of federal capital. The protesters blocked highway near Khana Dak as a protest against the government’s failure to provide gas. Police arrested 14 protesters and booked them under section 341/186 /148. However, the local magistrate, Naeem Shoukat on Saturday accepted their bail.
“We know arrested people were protesting against the gas load-shedding, which is their right but we were ordered by the government to register a case against them,” a police officer, who declined to be named, told Pakistan Today.
Amir Wasim, a resident of Khana Dak, said that instead of addressing masses’ grievances, the government was using police to quell their voice.
