LAHORE – Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) President Asma Jahangir has expressed grief on the death of senior journalist Minhaj Barna, founder president of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists.
In a condolence message for Minhaj, who died in Rawalpindi on Friday, the SCBA president said Minhaj’s life was unending struggle, as he believed in journalistic principles and worked without compromising voice of the conscience and professional integrity.
Asma said Minhaj never disgraced his pen for extending any undue opposition or favour for someone. She said he set a good example for everyone in the field of journalism. She said he refused to bow down before the dictator’s pressure. “Barna was put in jail but he never compromised with the forces of the dictatorship and kept fighting for supremacy of the constitution, rule of law, and democracy through his pen,” she said. Asma said Minhaj disliked elected leaders who became dictators in their style and behaviour after coming to power.
