LAHORE – On direction of Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Aslam Tareen, Anti-Vehicles Lifting Staff (AVLS) Saddar Division on Friday arrested four members of the Aaqil Khan car thief gang including its ringleader Aaqil Khan Pathan, Amir Ali, Walayat Khan and Nafaz Gul and recovered 21 cars worth Rs 128 million from their possession. The criminals admitted carrying out 30 car theft cases during preliminary interrogation.
According to details, on Tareen’s orders, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Investigation Zulfiqar Hameed directed Superintendent of Police (SP) CRO Sajjad Ahmad Manj to take action against the car thief gangs. The SP CRO constituted a special team under supervision of AVLS Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Saleem Mukhtar Butt and including AVLS Saddar Division Incharge Inspector Hamid Ali and others.
The police team collected particulars of the Aaqil Khan gang and arrested its four members, including its ringleader. The criminals admitted that with help of a master-key they would unlock vehicles and take them to Peshawar through the motorway where they sold the vehicles at cheaper prices. The arrested car thieves have around 30 cases registered against them in the Naseerabad, Faisal Town, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Choong, Iqbal Town, Mughalpura, Sabzazar, Gulshan-e-Ravi, Kot Lakhpat, Ghalib Market, Baghbanpura, Civil Lines, Manga Mandi, Sattokatla, Hanjarwal, Islampura, Millat Park, Mozang, Nishtar Colony and North Cantt police stations. Tareen has announced cash prizes and certificates for the police team including Sub-Inspector (SI) Muhammad Abbas, Head Constable Shabbir Ahmed, Constable Tariq Mehmood, Muhammad Aslam, Ghulam Jillani, Muhammad Naeem, Abid Hussain and Ilyas.
