ISLAMABAD – The Capital Development Authority told the Supreme Court on Friday that 80 kanals of land grabbed by brothers of PPP leader Nayyar Hussain Bukhari at Bani Gala had been evacuated. A three-member bench of Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Ghulam Rabbani and Justice Khalilur Rehman Ramday was hearing a suo motu case initiated on a letter by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf chief Imran Khan to the CJP against the illegal occupation and land grabbing by Bukhari and his relatives. Appearing on notice, CDA Chairman Imtiaz Inayat Elahi told the court that over 300 kanals of land at Bani Gala had been evacuated from illegal occupants. To a court query, he said 20,000 acres of CDA land in various sectors was under illegal occupation, despite its payments having been made to owners several years ago.
