ISLAMABAD – A delegation, led by Pakistan Finance Minister Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh, will be departing on Sunday to participate in the third session of Pakistan-Kuwait Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC) to be held in Kuwait on January 16 -17, says a press release received here on Friday.
The Finance Minister is scheduled to meet Minister for Commerce and Industry, Ahmed Rashed Al-Haroun and the delegation level talks will discuss avenues for further expanding cooperation between the two countries in the fields of trade, investment, industry, agriculture, petroleum, science and technology, labour and manpower. The two delegations include officials from various Ministries and representatives from Chambers of Commerce and Industry. During the visit, the finance minister will also have an audience with the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Muhammad Al-Sabah and meet various office bearers of the Kuwaiti government besides conducting meetings with Pakistani business associations in Kuwait.
Pakistan’s Ambassador in Kuwait Iftekhar Aziz has termed the upcoming event a very positive and significant development for both countries. He said that the JMC provided a useful platform for discussing in detail bilateral relations and determining the means to reinforce and develop relations. He hoped that the meeting would be able to make decisions for further enhancing the collaboration in various fields between the two countries.
