Stags qualify for SPM League quarters

LAHORE – SPM Stags and Nestle won their respective matches of the 4th SPM League cricket Tournament here on Thursday.
In Professional Group, SPM Stags beat EFU by 64 runs to qualify for the quarter-final at the Model Town Greens ground.
SPM Stags were bowled out for 176 runs. Salman Ali (47), Ayaz Tasawar (40), Usman Liaqat (33) and Nadeem Javed (31) were top scorers for Stags. EFU’s Asif Ghaffor took four wickets, Kashif Siddique took three, while Hasan Mehmood bagged two.
In reply, EFU were restricted to 112. Hafiz Saad (35), Khurram Siddique (24) and Imran Ali (18) could not lead their team to victory despite decent starts. Stags’ Faisal Javed took three wickets while Kaleem Ullah and Salman Ali shared two each. Salman Ali was declared man of the match.
In Non Professional Group, Nestle beat Aitchison College Staff by five wickets at Aitchison College ground. Aitchison College Staff were bowled out for 132. Asim Nawaz (45) and Aamir Razzaq (44) runs were the prominent batsmen. Nestle’s Naseer Ahmed, Rana Irfan and Farhan Yousaf took three wickets each.
Nestle achieved the target for the loss of five wickets, with Naveed Zafar scoring an unbeaten 80 and Ali Babar assisting with a handy 23 runs. Aitchison’s Faisal Imran took three wickets. Naveed Zafar was named the man of the match.
