KARACHI – I CC’s General Manager Operations Dave Richardson on Thursday visited the National Cricker Stadium here and watched the first days’ play in the day/night Quaid-e-Azam Cricket Trophy.
Former South African wicketkeeper Richardson is visiting Pakistan on the invitation of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to watch the day/night matches in the longer version of the game. He will also submit report about the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy final to the ICC about the prospect of of introduction of day/night Test matches in future.
Director General of PCB Javed Miandad and Chief Operating Subhan Ahmed, also accompanied Richardson and showed him various parts of the stadium.
This is his second visit to Pakistan. Earlier Dave Richardson was in Lahore when touring Sri Lankan team under came terrorists attack at Liberty Market Round About in Lahore on March 03, 2009. This is the first visit of an ICC official after spot-fixing controversy involving former Pakistan Captain Salman Butt, Muhammad Asif and Muhammad Aamir.
Earlier ICC Chief Executive Haroon Lorgat visited Karachi at the launching of ICC World Twenty20 Trophy here. Dave Richardson will be speaking to the media on Friday during the lunch break of the match, ICC Media Officer Samiul Hasan told reporters.
In the meantime former Pakistan Captains Hanif Muhammad, Wasim Akram and former PIA Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer PCB Arif Ali Khan Abbasi also watched first day proceedings in PIA dressing room.
NATIONAL ONE-DAY CUP gets going TODAY: The National Cup One Day tournament will start from January 14 at various centres of the country.All the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Division II tournament teams will participate in this tournament.”In all 10 teams divided into two groups will compete in the event”, said a spokesman of Pakistan Cricket Board here on Wednesday.The semifinals will be played at Hyderabad and Karachi and the final at National Stadium Karachi.
