ISLAMABAD – Higher Education Commission (HEC) is seriously mulling to take indirect control of all government post-graduate colleges, it has
been learnt.
A source in HEC told Pakistan Today that a committee had been constituted to look after the affairs of the post-graduate colleges.
It said the committee consisting of six universities includes University of the Punjab, Peshawar University, Gomal University, Karachi University and Sindh University.
It added that all post-graduate colleges and other colleges that were offering four-year bachelor degree programmes would be taken into HEC’s indirect control as it would provide support to them through the affiliated universities.
It further said the commission would also look after the professors’ appointment matters in the said colleges and provide them with proper training for teaching.
Dr Sohail Naqvi told Pakistan Today that HEC would look after the affairs of post-graduate colleges as it had constituted a committee of six universities in this regard.
He said the commission could not provide funds to the colleges but, he added, it would play its role for their betterment through the universities concerned.
