Bank Alfalah thwart Shamyl challenge in Cool & Cool Cup

LAHORE – Bank Alfalah significantly improved their chances of qualifying for the final of the Cool & Cool Lahore Open Polo Cup as they beat Shah Shamyl Alam-led Frontier Post 8-4.
The bankers made good moves to thwart spirited challenge from Shamyl. Earlier, Remounts with two consecutive wins in their two-chukker matches, qualified for the subsidiary final. Indeed it was Shamyl versus Bank Alfalah rather than Frontier Post as all the four goals of the losing side were scored by Shamyl while the bankers got their goals through Shah Qublai Alam who converted three, Mawaz Khan and Raja Temur Nadeem shared two each while Col. Nadeem Raja got one.
Pakistan Air Force also earned a place for third position match with thumping wins. Remounts defeated First Law 5-0 and later beat Air Force down 3-1. Zulfiqar Baig scored two goals each in both the matches and Asif Zahoor hit two and one in both matches respectively. First Law remained goalless and just one goal was scored against Remounts and that was through PAF’s Nausher Khan. Pakistan Air Force failed to get a single win and First Law beat them 3-1. Nausher was the only scorer for PAF side in their match against First Law, which got its two goals through Hav. Ameen and one from Raja Amer Khan. Umpires for the two-chukker matches were Taimur Ali Malik and Mian Hussain Iftikhar while Naveed M Sheikh and Omar Asjad Malhi umpired the four-chukker matches.
