KARACHI – The chief of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Altaf Hussain, has called for liberal forces and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to form an alliance against the increasing religious extremism and terrorism in the name of Islam.
Hussain was addressing a delegation of different NGOs working for human rights at the MQM headquarters, Nine Zero, over the telephone on Thursday.
The MQM chief said that according to the current conditions of the country, every person must have a sense of responsibility, and that he or she should step forward to face the situation his or her country is currently facing.
“Religious extremism is increasing in the country.
Terrorism and bomb blasts in the name of Islam continue because of that very reason. It is high time for an alliance between liberal forces and NGOs to tackle this menace,” he added.Hussain has given his word that he would support the liberal forces against all kinds of extremism.
