US saddened by Taseer’s murder: Biden

ISLAMABAD – Calling former Punjab governor Salmaan Taseer a decent and a brave man, US Vice President Joseph Biden on Wednesday said the US was saddened by Taseer’s cold-blooded murder.
In a reference to the assassination of the Punjab governor, at his joint press conference with Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, Biden said, “Societies that applaud such actions end up being consumed by those actions.” “The United States is saddened by cold-blooded murder of a decent, brave man.” He said, “The governor was killed simply because he was a voice of tolerance and understanding.” Earlier, the US vice president also made a telephone call to Amina Taseer, the widow of the slain Punjab governor, to express his condolences on behalf of the US president and the American people.
