Mani fears harsh penalties for Pakistani trio

LAHORE – Former ICC President Ehsan Mani believes that the ICC wants thorough investigation before announcing the final verdict in the spot-fixing case.
Mani believes that the tribunal does not want any stone unturned before drawing the final conclusion. Mani also feared harsh punishment for the suspended trio. “I have no doubt in the ability of Michael Beloff and his team. It’s a high profile case and the delay was expected. Not to forgot that the players have a right to approach the Court of Arbitration for Sport also, therefore the tribunal wanted to take sufficient time to analysis all angles of the case,” said Mani in a TV interview.
“My gut feeling is that all the three will be harshly punished, however, I will be very disappointed for Aamir who is the best young talent around”, added Mani. He reiterated that the PCB should also be blamed for the situation. Had the board suspended the players before the ICC, the situation could have been different. “The matter was badly mishandled by the PCB. The board abandoned their players and let the ICC dictate its terms.”
