ANP, MQM activists among eight killed in Karachi violence

KARACHI – Eight people, including three ANP activists and two MQM activists, were killed in separate incidents of violence in Karachi on Wednesday.
The three ANP activists were gunned down after a clash with the Muttahida Organising Committee, a sister wing of the MQM, in Bhittaiabad. Khayal Wazir was shot dead by unidentified gunmen near the ANP Ward in Bhittaiabad.
Within 10 minutes of the incident, another ANP activist, identified as Saleem Durrani, was shot dead while returning from Bhittaiabad ward office.
Another ANP activist, Shahid Ghouri, was killed by two motorcyclists outside his house in Bhittaiabad.
ANP workers later staged a protest at Pehlwan Goth Chowk against the killings, blocking the road leading to Bhittaiabad.
Gulistan-e-Jauhar SHO Asif Jakhrani said the Quick Response Force had been called in to initiate action against criminals in the area following the latest killings.
Meanwhile, an MQM activist was killed and another three injured when a group of motorcyclists stormed the MQM’s Unit No 18 near Qadafi Chowk in Khairabad Goth.
Separately, another MQM activist was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Khokharapar police precincts.
In another incident, a policeman was killed and two bystanders sustained injured as two men riding a motorcycle opened fire at a shop in Orangi No 1.
Also, Wali Hassan, 28, was shot dead in Ittehad Town.
