RAWALPINDI – Leaders of the Sunni Tehreek (ST) on Tuesday warned the daughter of the slain Punjab Governor, Salmaan Taseer, for making statements against Taseer’s murderer, Mumtaz Qadri, warning her that she should not forget what happened to her father.
The ST leaders warned the governor’s daughter against giving statement in the media against Qadri and the blasphemy law.
Shadab Qadri, a leader of the ST said, “We read the statement of the slain governor’s daughter in a newspaper… She should refrain from issuing such statements and must remember her father’s fate.”
The leaders of ST garlanded Qadri’s father Malik Bashir and assured him of the group’s complete support.
“Under the special directives of ST supremo Malik Sarwat Qadri, we will bear all domestic expenditure of Qadri’s family as he performed a great duty in the name of Islam,” Shadab said.
Qadri’s father, Bashir said he felt no regret over his son’s act. “My family is ready to sacrifice their lives in the name of the holy Prophet (PBUH),” he said.
Advocate Malik Tariq Daniyal said the ST lawyers’ wing would provide complete support to Qadri, adding that no one from the Rawalpindi Division will be present before the court against him as he did a great job for Islam.
Speakers warned Minister for Minorities Shahbaz Bhatti against issuing statements against the blasphemy law.
ST activists demanded immediate release of Qadri’s brother, Malik Naseer, who is also said to be in the custody of law enforcement agencies.
