KARACHI – Various judicial magistrates remanded seven suspected militants until January 20 at the City Courts on Tuesday.
Tanveer Abbas Rizvi alias Kashif, Abrar Hussain Rizvi, Pervez Zaidi, Rifat Raza alias Jehangir, Hasnain Abbas alias Faisal, Sikander Rizvi and Ali Mehdi, alleged activists of the banned Sipah-e-Muhammad, were booked in 20 criminal cases, including 11 cases of targeted killings.
The prosecution said that the Special Investigation Unit had arrested the suspects from Gulshan-e-Iqbal and Gulistan-e-Jauhar with unlicensed weapons and explosive substances on January 2.
The suspects were booked in nine cases registered under Sections 324/34 and 353 of the Pakistan Penal Code, 13-D of the Arms Ordinance, and 4/5 of the Explosive Substances Act.
Two cases of targeted killing were registered against them at the Khwaja Ajmair Nagri and Sir Syed police stations, whereas they were also booked in nine cases of targeted killings, including those of Maulana Nisar Ahmed and Dr Javed Shakoor.
The judicial magistrate (Central) conducted an identification parade on Tuesday in the murder case of Maulana Nisar Ahmed who had been gunned down in New Karachi.Two eyewitnesses, Faisal and Imran, identified one of the suspects, Sikander Rizvi, in the parade.
