ISLAMABAD – Senator Ishaq Dar, head of the four-member PML-N committee formed by chief Nawaz Sharif to facilitate the government in implementing its 10-point agenda, is likely to meet Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani alone or with his team in a day or two to brief the prime minister on the feasibility of the plan.
A source in the PML-N told Pakistan Today that the party officially handed over the 10-point agenda to Gilani on Tuesday. The document was in the form of a letter from Nawaz to the government. “Senator Ishaq Dar is likely to call on Gilani in a day or two alone or along his team, including Senator Pervez Rashid, Sardar Mehtab Abbasi and Lt General (r) Abdul Qadir Baloch to brief him on how the government can succeed in implementing the agenda in just 45 days,” the source said. To a question about the feasibility of PML-N’s proposed agenda in just 45 days, the prime minister had said, “The government will see how many demands of the agenda are doable once the PML-N officially presents its agenda to the government. The PML-N team will sit with us and convince the government on the feasibility of the demands of the agenda or we will convince the other party.”
The PML-N’s economic wizard, Dar, will guide the prime minister on how the government could resist the international trend of hike in POL prices and would also suggest ways of the formulation of people-friendly pricing mechanism and meeting the load shedding.
