KARACHI – The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday disposed of a petition regarding a missing person belonging to Karachi after recording the statement of the Special Investigation Unit investigation officer (IO).
A division bench comprising Justices Gulzar Ahmed and Imam Bux Baloch had directed the authorities on Monday to produce the missing person before the court.
Petitioner Anees Fatima had submitted in her petition that her son Pervez Ali was picked up by personnel of the law enforcement agencies on December 18, 2010, when he had arrived at the railway station from upcountry.
According to her, the law enforcers had also picked up her daughter-in-law along with two of her other relatives; however, everyone except her son was later released.
The IO on Tuesday produced the alleged missing person before the court and said that Pervez Ali was arrested by the police and was in police custody due to complaints filed against him at various police stations of the city.
The same bench also restricted the Khairpur district police from harassing a couple and directed the magistrate concerned to discharge the case against them.
Wazeera had approached the court after registration of cases against her husband Riaz Narejo by the Khairpur police.
