No buses for students

ISLAMABAD – The empty claims of Federal Directorate of Education to provide bus services to students and the limited routes taken by institutions’ bus services have only aggravated the problems faced by the students living in rural areas of the capital.
Owing to shortage of transport facilities, some parents have opted not to send their daughters to colleges, while male students from rural areas have to risk their lives everyday by traveling on the rooftops of public buses in the biting cold season. Students from Sihala, Bharakau, Korang Town, Sangam Town, Ghauri Town, Koral are among those who are deprived of from transport facilities. In the absence of transport provided by their institutions, parents of said students have to pay hefty amount to private vans for their daughters. Talking to Pakistan Today, Anwar Iqbal said “I pay Rs 5000 per month to a private van for my daughter.”
Asif Ali students of B Com said, “I know traveling in overloaded buses is violation of law, but I have no other option,” he lamented.
Commenting on the transport shortage a student Muhammad Ali said, “By providing only 4 to 6 buses, FDE can help us but they do not care.”
