LONDON – Londoners face more transport disruption after a 24-hour strike was called on part of the underground train system in support of two sacked drivers. The strike will take place from the evening of January 14 and will affect the Bakerloo and Northern lines, the Rail, Maritime and Transport union said on Monday.
Workers walked out on a similar 24-hour strike last month. Commuters have already had to endure severe disruption across the network in a separate dispute between the RMT and London Underground over staffing levels. Another union, ASLEF, staged a strike on Boxing Day in a row over bonus payments.
“The RMT leadership should stop threatening Londoners with strike action and let our staff get on with their job of keeping the capital moving,” Howard Collins, LU’s chief operating officer, said in a statement.
