PESHAWAR – Unwarranted price hike has forced the lower and middleclass to buy warm clothes from Landa and Sasta bazaars all over the city. Inflation, along with the falling mercury has paralyzed the masses, leading them to adopt desperate measures to function as fog and chilly westerly wave engulfs the country.
Warm garments made in the local factory are too expensive for people, a survey by Pakistan Today revealed, who are now resorting to Landa bazaars and sasta bazaars in the city. “I have 5 children and I cannot afford to buy clothes for them from the shops,” Ismail Khan told Pakistan Today, adding “I am glad we have landa and sasta bazaars from where we can get items of daily use at cheap prices.”
“We have always bought clothes and our daily use items from sasta bazaars,” said Imran Farooq, another customer. “Shopkeepers in the market charge too much money and these sasta bazaars sell the same things at affordable prices,” said Shaista while buying socks for her children.
Wajid, a shopkeeper in the Sassta Bazaar, said the number of customers had increased over a few months and people from all walks of life were coming to buy things at affordable prices.
