FIA quizzes friend of PM’s son over Haj scam

ISLAMABAD – The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) team investigating the Haj scam on Sunday called Zain Iftikhar Sukhera, a close friend of Abdul Qadir Gilani, son of Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani for questioning.
Sukhera was quizzed at the agency’s headquarters for his alleged involvement in Haj scam. FIA has found important clues regarding Sukhera’s involvement in the Haj scam he could be arrested for that, a FIA source told Pakistan Today.
He said former Haj Director General (DG) Rao Shakeel had paid Rs.30 million to Zain for his appointment as DG Haj.
“The FIA team also gathered information that Sukhera had provided a Land Cruiser to prime minister’s son, Qadir Gilani and the investigators suspect Sukhera might have paid Rs.30 million to Qadir which he had got from Rao Shakeel as bribe,” he said.
He said that Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) lawmaker in the National Assembly Imran Shah had accused that Qadir Gilan’s close friend Zain Iftikhar Sukhera had met former Director General (DG) Haj Rao Shahkeel several times in Jeddah. Imran Shah’s accusation was recorded by the FIA team.
The FIA team has so far arrested former Haj DG Rao Shakeel, Joint Secretary Ministry of Religious Affairs Aftab ul Islam and a relative of former Minister for Religious Affair Hamid Saeed Kazmi named Abudllah Khokar.
