LAHORE – A man died while three others including two women were injured in a monetary dispute in Bagbanpura police precincts on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Haider Ali (26), a resident of the Krol Bazaar Baghbanpura. Police investigators told Pakistan Today that no FIR had been lodged against the accused and no on has been arrested till now.
Haider’s brother Ghulam Mustafa had a monetary issue with his old business partner, Shakeel Butt. Shakeel with some armed men came to Mustafa’s residence and asked for Mustafa, whose family members told Shakeel that Mustafa was not at home.
A scuffle started between Shakeel and Haider, when Shakeel demanded his money from Haider. Shakeel was annoyed and started firing on him and his family. Resultantly, Haider, his brother Mustafa (23), his sister Asiya (30) and his mother Sakina (75) received bullet injuries. Rescue 1122 shifted the patients to General Hospital, where Haider died, while his other family members are told to be out of danger.
Other crime: A minor’s body was recovered from the Nishtar Colony Police Station precincts on Saturday.
According to details, a newly-born baby was lying dead along the road in the Atabaksh Colony on which local residents informed police, which reached the spot instantly. Afterwards, police handed over the body to Edhi officials who buried it at the local graveyard.
Separately, a man was found dead under mysterious circumstances near the Katcha Ravi Road in Shafiqabad Police Station precincts. According to details, a man was lying besides a park near the Katcha Ravi Road when passers-by spotted the body and informed police, which reached the spot and took the body into custody. Afterwards, doctors confirmed the man’s death while according to police, the deceased might have been a drug addict and died of an overdose. Police said that it could not be confirmed whether he died of a drug overdose, as he was not wearing any warm clothes and could have died of hypothermia. The body could not be identified yet and was shifted to the morgue for autopsy.
Also on Saturday, a 26-year-old man was injured after sustaining electric shocks in the Sherakot Police Station precincts. According to details, Sajjad was running his own kiosk in Sherakot and trying to manage an electricity board when he sustained several electric shocks. As a result, he was injured and shifted to the Mayo Hospital where his condition was reported to be stable.
A fire erupted in a shop located near the Old Dhobi Mandi in Old Anarkali Police Station precincts reducing valuables worth hundreds and thousands of rupees to ashes. According to details, the fire broke out due to short-circuit and engulfed the whole shop in a few minutes. Rescue 1122 officials reached the spot instantly and controlled the fire after half an hour. No casualties were reported in the incident.
