LHC takes disciplinary action against lower judiciary judges

LAHORE – The Lahore High Court (LHC) Administrative Committee chaired by LHC Chief Justice (CJ) Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry on Saturday initiated disciplinary proceedings against 14 judges including civil and additional district and session judges (AD&SJ). According to a notification issued by the LHC registrar, the administrative committee issued final show-cause notices for imposition of major penalty, removal from service, to six judicial officers including LHC AD&SJ Abdul Haseeb Sheikh, presently officer on special duty (OSD), Rahim Yar Khan AD&SJ Nazir Ahmed Langah, Mianwali Civil Judge Sharafat Ali Nasir, Khanewal Civil Judge Muhammad Tariq, Gujranwala Civil Judge Muhammad Yousaf Hanjra and Jatoi Civil Judge Syed Farrukh Hussain Shamsi. According to sources, the committee conducted disciplinary proceedings against the judicial officers on various allegations including corruption, breach of judicial code of conduct and delaying disposal of cases. The committee also issued show-cause notices for enhancement of minor penalty into major penalties to two judicial officers including Nankana Sahib Civil Judge Jahangir Wains and Islamabad Civil Judge Amir Mukhtar Gondal. The committee imposed minor penalty of censure on two judicial officers including Lahore Civil Abdul Jabbar, presently OSD, and Sumandari Civil Judge Malik Manzar Hayat. The committee dropped disciplinary proceedings against Rahim Yar Khan Civil Judge Mujahid Abbas. The committee initiated disciplinary proceedings against two judicial officers including Rahim Yar Khan AD&SJ Nazir Ahmed Langah and Chiniot Civil Judge Kabir Ahmed. The committee also decided to appoint Muhammad Shafiq as civil judge-cum-judicial magistrate after his appointment was recommended by the recruitment committee.
