ISLAMABAD – As the deadline by PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif approaches expiration, the PPP leadership is still undecided over whether to respond to the charter of demands and how.
The party has decided to keep mum over the issue for the time being and would respond to the PML-N’s charter of demands after the deadline of January 10. “First, the government is so far undecided whether or not to respond to the issue. And if the government has to respond, should it be in an affirmative or a middle ground should be taken,” a PPP source said.
The source said Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani was still awaiting a decision from President Asif Ali Zardari over the issue. However, PPP Secretary Information Fouzia Wahab said politics was beyond limitations and the deadline and charter of demands by the PML-N leadership was an impolitic move.
“Politics knows no time-bound moves and deadlines, as this is an art of making the impossible possible. Everything in life takes its own course, so no one can give deadlines or ultimatums,” she said. Another PPP leader said the government would take a decision after the nomination of the new governor for Punjab, as this decision would prove to be a cornerstone of the government’s future policy vis-a-vis the PML-N.
