ISLAMABAD – The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has been asked to investigate irregularities in the affairs of National Institute of Electronic Employees Cooperative Housing Society (NIEECHS) as its management has sold 33 kanals of land worth Rs 250 million without the consent of members and allottees of the society.
A source told Pakistan Today that the employees of National Institute of Electronics (NIE) had initiated a housing society NIEECHS with the approval of authorities concerned in 1980 that purchased 230 Kanals of land near Nougazi next to sector F-16 Islamabad along the Fateh Jang Road.
It said that in 2008, NIEECHS President Muhammad Aslam and NIE Director General (DG) Gul Zaman signed an agreement under which the Islamabad Corporation(IC) would issue a cheque of Rs 100 million in favour of the NIEECHS which had the right to cash the cheque if the IC failed to transfer the land measuring 450 kanal to the NIEECHS.
It added that NIEECHS’s management transferred 197 Kanals of land to IC but it had transferred not even a signal Kanal of land to NIEECHS. It said that under the agreement, the NIEECHS would grant the power of attorney to IC to sell the land owned by the NIEECHS and the NIEECHS would transfer its 197 Kanals of land to IC and IC would transfer 230 Kanals of land in Mauza Mugal Parri.
According to the accord between the two parties, IC will immediately transfer 200 Kanals of land to the NIEECHS and the remaining 30 Kanals of land within three months of the first transfer.
NIEECHS Secretary and NIE Principal Research Officer Javed Altaf Shaikh also confirmed that IC sold 33 Kanals of land to NIEECHS.
However, he said the NIEECHS had singed a land exchange agreement with IC in May 2008 after getting approval from the registrar of cooperative societies. “NIEECHS management signed land exchange agreement with IC as NIEECHS was short of land,” he added.
He said the IC had provided 190 Kanals of land to the NIEECHS near Pakistan Government Employees Society.
