Balochistan observes strike against killings

QUETTA – Complete strike was observed in different towns of Balochistan on third consecutive day against the killing of leaders of Baloch Students Organization (Azad) and against the kidnapping of Balochis by intelligence agencies on Saturday.
Unidentified people torched official buildings and vehicles in Turbat. Baloch National Front had given a three day strike call throughout the province to condemn the killing of senior student leader Qambar Chakar and Illyas Nazar by personnel agencies whose bullet riddled bodies were found in mountainous area of Turbat three days ago.
All business and trade centers remained completely closed in Kechh district while vehicular traffic also remained on a standstill. All government and private educational institution observed a holiday to avoid any unpleasant situation while attendance in government offices remained low.
Unidentified people ransacked General Post office and office of Communication and Works and set them on fire because of which all records and furniture were destroyed. In another incident, unidentified people set a vehicle of Family Planning Office on fire.
Shutter down strike was also observed in Gwadar, Khuzdar Naal, Kalat, Mastung, Nushki, Hub, Awaran, Dalbandin, Kharan and other Baloch dominated areas of the province.
Local administrations had taken strict security measures and police, Levies Force and personnel of Frontier Corps were deployed in all sensitive areas to meet any untoward incident.
Meanwhile the lawyers also boycotted court proceedings in Baloch dominated areas on the call of Baloch Bar Association against the growing incidents of murder of missing
people and recovery of their dead bodies from the streets and desolate places. The lawyers did not appear before the courts in the districts like Kechh, Punjgoor, Kalat, Mastung, Naushki, Chaghi, Kharan, Gwader, Awaran and Khuzdar.
