ISLAMABAD – Punjab Governor Salman Taseer’s killer Mamtaz Qadri should not be given the status of a hero, instead he must be treated like a killer, said Quaid-i-Azam University students on Friday.
The students staged a protest rally against the killing of Punjab Governor Salman Taseer in the varsity’s premises and demanded that Qadri must be hanged quickly. They were carrying placards and banner inscribed with slogans against Taseer’s killer and chanted slogans against the fanatics. Students said that the absence of a strict anti-terrorism policy was the cause of increasing incidents of terrorism in the country. Meanwhile, some civil society activists also staged a protest demonstration in front of the Islamabad Press Club to condemn Taseer’s assassination.
