PPP seeks PML-N’s stance over Salmaan’s assassination

LAHORE – Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has questioned Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) credibility in the assassination of slain Punjab Governor Salman Taseer and asked its chief to issue a policy statement in this regard. Law Minister Babar Awan sought Nawaz Sharif’s policy statement on Friday by saying that PML-N chief should clarify his party’s stance over the killing of Punjab governor.
He was talking to the journalists after attending Mehfil-e-Milad held at the residence of Provincial Minister for Sports and Culture Tanvirul Islam.
He said that on one from PML-N was condemning governor’s killing rather PML-N Islamabad lawyers wing President Fazlur Rehman Khan Niazi garlanded Salman Taseer’s murderer Mumtaz Qadri.
He said that all this made PML-N’s position suspicious and Punjab’s ruling party must clear its position that whether they were with killers or patriotic people of the country.
Answering a question regarding the deadlines given by Nawaz Sharif, he said that the deadlines could not be given in politics as there was no final word in politics.
The Mehfil-e-Milad was also attended by Punjab Senior Minister Raja Riaz Ahmad, Provincial Ministers Tanvir Ashraf Kaira, Neelam Jabbar, Farooq Ghurki, Muhammad Ashraf Sohna and Haji Muhammad Ishaq, Punjab Assembly Members and other party leaders Sajida Meer, Faiza Malik, Talat Yaqoob, Hasan Murtaza, Amjad Mayo, Makhdoom Irtaza, Azizur Rehman Chan, Zikriya Butt, Sohail Malik and other party workers. Raja Riaz said that he was feeling incomplete without Salman Taseer, adding that all conspiracies against democracy would fail.
