LAHORE – The Pakistan Hockey Federation has decided to take disciplinary action against national team captain Zeeshan Ashraf and goal-keeper Salman Akbar for violating the PHF code of conduct.
The PHF decision came after the two players criticised the PHF’s age-restriction policy in the National Championship to be held at Faisalabad. PHF secretary Asif Bajwa said that the players have violated the code of conduct by criticising the federation’s policy and they are being called to explain their point of view.
He said that all the 30 national players including Zeeshan and Salman are exempted from age restriction for their participation in the championship but still they criticised the PHF’s policy.
He said that the PHF formulated a policy to encourage fresh players. “Senior players block the youngsters progress,” he said and added that Salman and Zeeshan, instead of speaking against the federation’s policy, should have paid attention to their game and fitness. He further said that there will be no compromise on discipline no matter how big a player is.
