LAHORE – Royaat Gallery is to open an art exhibition today, “Passage across Pakistan,” with over ten master painters depicting the beauty of Pakistan’s rich landscape. The show will continue to be on display for two weeks. Gallery timings are 3 pm to 7 pm or by appointment.
Royaat Gallery Director Faryal Arif Latif told Pakistan Today that the painters have used a number of techniques and color palettes to depict a variety of scenes from the austere beauty of Balochistan, to the pastoral tranquility of Punjab, and the vibrancy of Lahore’s old city.
The exhibition captures the artistic influences prevalent among contemporary Pakistani painters. “Influences range from classical to realistic, and expressionist to cubist,” said Latif. She also highlighted that the work was a testament to the rich and sophisticated landscape painting tradition in Pakistan. Evoking the classical style of landscape painters, several paintings on display represent the pastoral fields using fine, detailed strokes. Some paintings evoke the energy of the city, employing bright colors and bold strokes. Others depict often seen images of places that are loved by many, but painted in a new perspective.
