LAHORE – The Concerned Citizens of Pakistan (CCP), a human rights organisation, has condemned the assassination of Punjab Governor Salman Taseer terming it ‘brutal act of hatred committed in the name of religion’. In a statement issued here on Friday, the CCP said, “There was no greater blasphemy, according to Islam, than the killing of innocents; and that too in the name of Islam that preaches peace and not the hatred”. It said it was regrettable that Governor Taseer was gunned down by his own security guard ‘who was known to be a religious extremist’.
