28-year-old man shot dead in Shahdara

LAHORE – A 28-year-old man was gunned down by dacoits and his brother sustained bullet injuries in Shahdara Police Station precincts on Friday. The victim was identified as Ilyas and his brother as Ashfaq, 25, a resident of Islampura, Shahdara Town.
Ilyas’s brother Nawaz told Pakistan Today that Ilyas and Ashfaq were sleeping in their house in upper portion of a building when some unidentified dacoits broke into the house from the rooftop. Two of them entered the room where the brothers were sleeping and demanded them to hand over valuables.
Ilyas and Ashfaq succeeded in overcoming the dacoits but their third accomplice entered the room and started indiscriminate firing due to which Ilyas and Ashfaq were injured while the dacoits managed to flee. Both of them were shifted to the Mayo Hospital where Ilyas succumbed to his injuries while Ashfaq’s condition was reported to be stable.
According to the autopsy report, Ilyas died after being hit by a bullet in his head. Police registered a case against unidentified men on request of the deceased’s elder brother. Ilyas’s body was handed over to his family after completing legal procedures.
